If you are searching for ways to explore the great outdoors throughout Wyoming, plan a trip with your RV. The summer season is the perfect time to go camping with your rig and create lasting memories with your favorite people. However, the hot weather can bring various unique problems, and you will want to ensure your vacation is fun and hassle free. Don’t worry if you are unsure where to begin—our guide has you covered.

Keep reading this guide to learn more about camping with your recreational vehicle in the summer, and for more information, contact Airstream of Wyoming. We are in Etna, WY, and happy to welcome our friends from Jackson and Casper.

Get Your RV Ready

Before embarking on your summer camping trip, you will want to ensure your rig is safe and comfortable for your family outing. We suggest you inspect your vehicle carefully and thoroughly to see that every system works smoothly. This examination will help you spot any hidden issues before they get worse.

Look at your camper inside and outside and check the doors, windows, and tires before hitting the road. You will also want to ensure that your rig’s braking and electrical systems are functioning efficiently and that you have re-stocked your first-aid kit.

If you are boondocking, you will also want flashlights, waterproof clothing, a repair kit, and extra food and water for your traveling crew.

Park Your Vehicle Strategically

Once you have arrived at your destination, spend some time looking for a parking spot with a lot of shade. You can park underneath a large tree or position your camper with trees on your western side to prevent the afternoon sun from entering your RV. If possible, try to make the most of the wind patterns by aligning your rig with the breeze.

Keep the Interior Cool

In addition to the above point, you will want to take all possible measures to ensure that your camper’s cooling system works efficiently during your trip. Inspect your air filters and clean and replace them as necessary. For the best results, keep all the doors and windows of your RV covered and closed when running your cooling system.

You will also want to avoid cooking inside your vehicle as much as possible, as it can cause your camper to overheat and become uncomfortable for your passengers. It will be good to prepare your meals over a campfire, instead. This way, you can bond with your family and have more fun.
